Role Description
The Technical Sales Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Greater Cleveland area. This role is responsible for identifying customer needs, preparing technical proposals, and recommending casting solutions that align with performance, cost, and manufacturing requirements. Day-to-day tasks include hunting for sales opportunities, managing current accounts, conducting plant and customer visits, collaborating with engineering and production teams, and providing technical support during the quotation and order fulfillment process. The Technical Sales Engineer will build and maintain customer relationships, present technical information in a clear and accessible way, and assist with negotiations. The role also involves tracking market trends, supporting product development initiatives, and contributing to sales forecasts and strategic planning.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in industrial sales and applications engineering5 years of previous Foundry Sales and/or engineering experience in a fast-paced metals industry within the last 5-10 yearsExperience with No bake and Green Sand-Casting process / Iron Casting process preferredStrong skills in Technical Sales and Sales to manage opportunities, negotiate, and drive revenue growth.Ability to develop a strategic sales plan to hunt for new customers that will fit our nicheSales Engineering and Technical Support skills to translate customer requirements into feasible casting solutions and support customers through the project lifecycle.Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts, prepare clear proposals, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.Strong problem-solving, analytical abilities, and attention to detail, with proficiency in basic engineering calculations and reading technical drawings.Ability to work on-site in Greater Cleveland, travel to customer locations as needed, and operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., CRM systems, MS Office) and familiarity with project and account management practices.Focus 80% on growth and 20% on management of accountsMust be able to travel up to 75-80% of the time, work from home or out of Elyria Foundry officeMust be comfortable going on the plant floor and learn the foundry processes
