Geospatial Programmer / Architecture Specialist

The Role

Position Description (PD)

The Geospatial Programmer provides advanced GIS software development, scripting, and automation support for DRIS geospatial systems. This role designs, codes, and maintains programs and scripts that automate data management, standardization, and map production for large geospatial datasets, including land status, cadastral, and ownership data. Responsibilities include translating legacy scripts into modern platforms; developing new tools to support enterprise GIS workflows; integrating geospatial data with trust and land management systems; and supporting dashboard and application development. The Geospatial Programmer works closely with GIS architects and analysts to improve system performance, data quality, and information delivery.

Personnel Qualifications (PQ)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in GIS programming and automation
• Advanced proficiency in Python for geospatial scripting and data processing
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS APIs, and web GIS
• Familiarity with server-side and client-side scripting (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell)
• Understanding of geodatabase architecture and enterprise GIS design principles
• Experience integrating geospatial data with external business systems
• Ability to support mission-critical automation and special-project scripting
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
