We are seeking skilled and experienced Geospatial Data Administrator to join our team!

Geospatial Data Administrator



The Role

Position Description (PD)

The Geospatial Data Administrator provides senior-level support for Enterprise GIS (EGIS) operations in support of BIA OTS/DRIS programs. This role is responsible for the administration, design, integration, and security of enterprise geospatial databases and services supporting trust land, ownership, boundary, valuation, and natural resource data. Duties include establishing spatial database architectures and workflows; integrating GIS with enterprise business systems (e.g., TAAMS-like environments); administering servers, databases, and services; developing scripts to improve geospatial processes; and ensuring compliance with FGDC, NSDI, DOI, and BIA geospatial standards. The Geospatial Data Administrator also documents technical procedures, supports service desk operations, and advances enterprise GIS interoperability and standards across the organization.


Personnel Qualifications (PQ)

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience supporting enterprise GIS environments
  • Demonstrated experience administering ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, geodatabases, and web services
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, Microsoft server environments, and enterprise data workflows
  • Experience developing scripts (e.g., Python) to automate geospatial processes
  • Knowledge of FGDC/NSDI metadata standards and federal geospatial data governance
  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems for federal or tribal stakeholders
  • Ability to document architectures, SOPs, and technical guidance clearly
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with government technical staff
