What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Automation Engineer position at eLumen?
We're looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our small, fast-moving team. You'll be hands-on with our Python-based codebase, help us build and maintain automated test coverage, and work closely with our Customer Experience (CX) team to keep things running smoothly for our users.
This is a great fit for someone who's technical, curious, communicates well, and genuinely enjoys solving problems alongside a tight-knit, supportive team.
- Write and maintain automated tests (functional, integration, regression/smoke, and black-box testing)
- Work within our Python codebase, using Regex for pattern matching/data parsing tasks
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)
- Query and work with data in SQL databases
- Test and integrate with APIs
- Partner with the CX team on customer-facing issues and support escalations
- Own recurring team responsibilities, including our onboarding runbook and weekly Monday updates to CX
- Explore and apply AI agents/tools to improve testing and workflows
Must-haves:
- Working knowledge of Python
- Familiarity with Regex
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins or similar)
- Basic SQL / database knowledge
- Experience with functional, integration, regression, smoke, or black-box testing
- API testing experience
- Strong communication skills — you can explain technical issues clearly to non-technical teammates
- Someone who takes feedback well and grows from it
Nice-to-haves:
- Customer support or customer-facing experience
- Experience working with or alongside a CX/support team
- Hands-on experience with AI agents or AI-assisted development tools
- Curiosity and enthusiasm about how AI is changing software development
- A collaborative, easygoing attitude — we're a small, inclusive team and we like working with people who bring good energy
- Comfort asking questions and admitting what you don't know yet
- Interest in continuing to learn — we'd rather train curiosity than pretend to have all the answers
