The English Language Instructor position at ELS Language Centers is an exciting opportunity for experienced educators to teach, evaluate, and support students in their language learning goals. As a valued member of our team, you will play a critical role in planning and delivering effective classroom instruction, maintaining student records, and contributing to the overall success of our programs. Under the guidance of the Academic Director or Academic Coordinator, you will collaborate with Instructional Specialists and Senior English Language Instructors to create a positive and engaging learning environment for our students.
Job Duties
- Teach various ELS academic programs as assigned by the Academic Director or Academic Coordinator.
- Prepare lesson plans, exercises, and tests to facilitate student learning and progress.
- Evaluate student performance and provide counseling as needed.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes learning and active student engagement.
- Coordinate instruction, attendance records, and evaluations with other teachers.
- Adhere to Center policies and procedures and communicate them effectively to associate English Language Instructors.
- Complete administrative paperwork as required and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain the Center's resource materials and files to ensure easy access for instructors and students.
- Refer non-academic problems to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Participate in professional development activities, such as workshops and meetings, to enhance teaching skills.
- Collaborate in administrative meetings and engage in the evaluation process for continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to Associate English Language Instructors.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of teaching materials at the local level.
- Participate in activities outside of scheduled class hours to promote student engagement.
- Maintain organized and tidy classrooms, staff workroom, and staff lounge.
- Be prepared to substitute in emergency situations when necessary.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: BA or MA in TEFL/TESOL/Linguistics and experience teaching English to adult speakers of other languages in higher education settings or community settings.
