We are currently seeking a Service Manager to lead the maintenance operations at The Pointe at Cherry Hill, a thriving 173-unit apartment community in Westland, MI. Position Overview
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property maintenance, including daily work orders, preventative maintenance, unit turns, and vendor coordination. This is a working leadership role—you’ll supervise the maintenance team while also performing hands-on repairs and upkeep.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all maintenance operations for the community
- Assign and monitor work orders, unit turns, and preventative maintenance schedules
- Perform and oversee repairs related to plumbing, electrical, appliances, carpentry, and general building systems
- Maintain and monitor boilers and pool systems (experience preferred)
- Ensure the property is clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times
- Supervise, train, and support the property maintenance team
- Order and manage maintenance supplies and inventory
- Partner with the Property Manager to manage maintenance budgets
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed
- Participate in on-call emergency maintenance rotation
- Ensure all work is performed according to safety regulations and company standards
Qualifications
- 3 years of maintenance experience in multi-family or commercial properties
- 1 year of maintenance team leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliances, carpentry, and general maintenance
- Boiler and pool knowledge preferred
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus
