What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Associate position at Elmwood Franklin School?
The Development Associate works to strengthen fundraising, manage events, and oversee database functions. This role is essential in helping the school grow its community and resources. Occasional evenings and weekends are required.
AREAS OF SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY
The Development Associate works to deepen, strengthen, and increase relationships within our community by facilitating the following:
- Maintain records in the Development database, Raiser’s Edge, by updating or adding new records, researching and updating lost constituents, and exporting data for development and other school purposes.
- Records gifts and acknowledgments
- Perform and maintain prospect research
- Develops & manages special projects to expand our network & donor pool and leads internal processes anddiscussions to ensure the assignment of newly identified prospective donors; prospective donors will be identified through a variety of techniques, including:
- Program-specific and regional prospecting & mapping
- Sphere of Influence Mapping
- Coordinate and support school events, including, but not limited to, Parent Council events, constituentevents, donor events, campaign events, and the annual Auction
- Creates and maintains Auction database and gifts
- Assists with Audit preparation
- Explores and reports on new funding opportunities; including grant research
- Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with key constituencies
- Support Parent and Alumni Council involvement with the school
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and Head of School
- Assist direct mail projectsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Ability to manage event budgets
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet tight deadlines

- Strong problem-solving skills, with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Able to work some nights/weekends when needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in communications and 1-3 years experience in events management or alumni/development work desired. Knowledge of fundraising and donor management software, specifically Raiser’s Edge, is strongly preferred.
