Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and multilingual Medical Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between healthcare providers and patients. Duties

• Provide real-time interpretation for medical consultations, procedures, and patient interactions across various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, and social services.
• Translate medical documents, patient records, consent forms, and educational materials accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with understanding complex medical terminology to ensure patients comprehend diagnoses, treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up care.
• Support communication with child protective services, social workers, and other community agencies to promote patient safety and well-being.
• Maintain confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations during all interpretation activities.
• Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist with documentation review processes as needed.
• Facilitate communication for patients with limited English proficiency or hearing impairments using American Sign Language or other accessible methods.
• Document interactions thoroughly to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with healthcare standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve communication strategies tailored to individual patient needs.

Experience

• Multilingual proficiency in at least two languages; fluency in American Sign Language is highly desirable.
• Prior experience in interpretation within healthcare or social services environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology across various specialties including pediatrics, emergency care, mental health, and social work.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy and data security.
• Experience translating or interpreting medical records, consent forms, or clinical documentation.
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
