This position performs custodial work required for the cleaning and upkeep of buildings in accordance with the standards of the Night Custodial team, and ensures that completed work is of a high quality to maintain a clean and healthy learning and working environment for all members of the campus community. The hours for this position are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.
Position Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $17.50. This is the expected hourly rate for this position.
Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
The essential functions of this position require regular movement between indoor and outdoor campus locations, with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Work is often physically demanding in nature and may require walking, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Required abilities include frequent use of fine motor skills to push, pull, or maneuver a range of equipment. Work requires regular lifting of objects up to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Responsibilities
- Performs daily custodial duties as assigned including, but not limited to trash collection and removal; cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing restrooms; cleaning floors, stairs, and carpets; dusting; replacing light bulbs; cleaning windows and other glass surfaces; shoveling snow and de-icing building entrances
- Learns to use and uses janitorial equipment including automatic scrubber, high-speed buffer, carpet extractor, upright vacuum, and low-speed floor scrubber
- Maintains adequate stock of custodial supplies in assigned custodial closets
- Inspects equipment and informs supervisor of any issues
- Assists in setting up or taking down the set-up for special events as directed. This may include moving and removing large and heavy objects, such as, chairs, tables, and stages, either alone or with a coworker
- Demonstrates proper ladder safety

- Follows all safety rules and regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies including their proper usage
- Ability to work well independently and in a team
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
