Job Summary
The Meat Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the meat department to ensure high standards of product quality, food safety, customer service and profitability. This role leads department staff, manages inventory and ordering, ensures compliance with health regulations, and maintains an attractive, fully stocked sales floor.
Duties
- Supervise daily meat department activities, including food preparation, packaging, and display setup to ensure freshness and visual appeal
- Lead and motivate team members to deliver excellent customer service, answer questions, and assist with product selection
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures across all operations
- Oversee inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste
- Perform meat cutting and knife skills to prepare products efficiently while ensuring quality standards are met
- Train staff on proper food production techniques, packaging methods, and safety protocols
- Ensure compliance with all health regulations and company policies related to the food industry
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of meat cutting experience required.
- Strong knowledge of meat products, cuts, trimming, and merchandising.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in refrigerated environments.
