  • $64,711.58 - $122,591.66
  • Salary will be updated per ETO CBA Salary Schedule 2026-2027

Summary:
Elma Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team as a Sixth Grade Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Social Studies and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic growth. This full-time position requires creativity, collaboration, and a deep understanding of middle school curricula to effectively teach and inspire students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Social Studies Endorsement
  • WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee)
  • Student teaching or contracted teaching experience in a secondary setting
  • Knowledge and ability to use a variety of techniques to teach students with differing learning styles
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parent/guardians, and community

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Washington Social Studies Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently engage students with Social Studies practices.

  • Able to be a positive team player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families
  • Open to being coached and receiving feedback in order to advance learning and growth for students
  • Professional with high personal standards and integrity
  • Ability to use Google Classroom as an effective teaching tool
  • Interest and/or experience in Middle School Social Studies
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • The safety and health of students and others are essential functions of this position
