Elm State Care, Inc. is the nonprofit sister organization to Cornerstone Counseling Center. We partner with schools, community agencies, and healthcare providers across Connecticut to expand access to high-quality behavioral health services. We’re seeking a mission-driven grant professional to both write winning proposals and continuously monitor new funding opportunities that advance our impact statewide.
The Role
You will own the full grant lifecycle—from pipeline building and LOIs to proposal development, submissions, reporting, and compliance—while running a rigorous, always-on prospecting process for federal, state, municipal, foundation, and corporate opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Prospecting & Monitoring (40%)
- Build and maintain a rolling grant calendar (quarterly & annual) with submission deadlines and decision timelines.
- Conduct weekly scans of Grants.gov, SAM.gov, CT eCris/CTSource, DCF/DSS/DMHAS/DOE opportunities, municipal RFPs, and foundation portals.
- Track fits for programs including school-based services, IOP/OP mental health, workforce development, and community outreach.
- Grant Writing & Submissions (40%)
- Draft Letter of Intents (LOIs), narratives, workplans, evaluation plans, and sustainability sections tailored to each funder.
- Collaborate with finance to build compliant budgets, budget narratives, and cost allocations.
- Coordinate partner (Memorandum of Understanding ( MOUs), letters of support, and required attachments; submit clean, on-time packages.
- Grant Management & Reporting (20%)
- Manage post-award tasks: kickoff, deliverables, reimbursement schedules, compliance, and outcomes reporting.
- Maintain documentation in the grants CRM (e.g., Valant, Theranest) including KPIs and close-out materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Public Health, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or related field).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing or grant management (mental health, healthcare, or education preferred).
- Proven record of securing local/state/federal or foundation grants.
- Strong understanding of SAMHSA, HRSA, DCF, and DMHAS funding streams a plus.
- Excellent writing, budgeting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate across teams.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
