Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and field service experience, with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems across various settings. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of HVAC/R systems, refrigeration, plumbing, and property maintenance to ensure optimal operation of heating and cooling equipment. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be prepared to work in diverse environments, providing essential service to our clients.
The HVAC Technician position will be responsible for the installation and/or service (diagnostics & repairs) of ducted and ductless system installations. Responsibilities will include driving an installation truck, transporting HVAC appliances, installing ductwork and piping, servicing of HVAC systems, and other duties as may be assigned to you by the Employer. (e.g., maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs) and across Long Island.
Duties
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment such as ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, HVAC design plans, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC/R equipment to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Troubleshoot electrical components using tools such as ohmmeters and perform equipment repairs or replacements as needed.
- Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including pipe fittings and drainage connections.
- Utilize welding skills for repairs or modifications of metal components within HVAC systems.
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC infrastructure.
- Operate field service vehicles safely and efficiently while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Document service activities thoroughly and communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs or system upgrades.
Experience
- Experience as a service technician in HVAC or related mechanical fields.
- Construction/Trades background or property maintenance experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, and refrigeration systems such as ammonia refrigeration is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge of appliances, boilers, and general equipment repair is essential.
- Experience with plumbing, welding, and boiler operation enhances candidacy.
- Prior work in field service environments demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot complex systems on-site.
- Mechanic experience or expertise in HVAC systems is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for operating company vehicles safely. Pay: $18.00 - $50.00 per hour
