Responsibilities
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and nail clipping tailored to each pet’s breed and individual needs
- Handle animals safely and confidently using proper restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assist with pet handling tasks such as dog training, animal restraint, and managing pet behavior to facilitate smooth grooming sessions
- Maintain a clean and sanitary grooming area by disinfecting tools and workspaces regularly
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to discuss grooming preferences, provide care advice, and address any concerns
- Support veterinary staff with basic animal handling or veterinary technician tasks when needed
- Ensure all animals are treated with kindness and respect throughout the grooming process
Requirements
- Prior experience in pet grooming or animal handling is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary experience (veterinary technician or assistant background) is a plus
- Familiarity with animal care procedures including kennel experience, pet sitting, or equine experience is beneficial
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to handle larger animals safely
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Excellent animal restraint skills to ensure safety for pets and staff during grooming sessions
- Passion for animal welfare combined with a proactive attitude toward learning new techniques in pet care and grooming
