Job Description
We are seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of cloud solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role will focus on building and maintaining reliable, secure, and cost-effective environments to meet mission needs. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS services, automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and cloud best practices, with the ability to collaborate across IT, development, and operations teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure to support mission workloads.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation for repeatable, reliable deployments.
• Configure and manage AWS services across computer, networking, storage, databases.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including refactoring applications for cloud-native architectures.
• Monitor environments with CloudWatch, Config, and other native tools to ensure availability, performance, and operational health.
• Apply cost optimization practices, including tagging, rightsizing, and AWS cost reporting.
• Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and cross-region failover strategies.
• Work with Security teams to help enforce compliance and governance policies in AWS.
• Collaborate with development teams to enable CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and secure application deployment.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship on AWS services, automation, and cloud engineering best practices to team members and stakeholders.
• Contribute to documentation, playbooks, and knowledge-sharing for cloud operations.
Required Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of AWS core services.
• Experience with monitoring/logging solutions.
• Experience with DevOps tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
Years of Experience and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience working with AWS cloud environments.

Location: Northwest D.C. 5 days on-site
