Quality Management & Quality Control Specialist

We are an API 11AX licensed subsurface sucker rod pump manufacturing company based in Midland, TX. We are seeking a motivated individual who can take ownership of our QMS while also supporting day‑to‑day Quality Control activities on the shop floor.

Position Summary
The Quality Management & Quality Control Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and improving our API Q1‑compliant Quality Management System, preparing for annual audits, managing corrective actions, and supporting QC activities such as inspections, testing, and documentation review.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable balancing office‑based QMS responsibilities with practical QC tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS) – API Q1 / API 11AX
- Maintain and update the company’s QMS in compliance with API Q1 and API 11AX requirements.
- Prepare for and coordinate external API audits and customer audits.
- Manage internal audits, audit schedules, and audit records.
- Lead corrective actions including root cause analysis and effectiveness verification.
- Maintain controlled documents, normative references, procedures, forms, and records.
- Ensure procedures , work instructions, organizational charts, key personnel identification, training and competency records and other QMS documentation remain current.
- Support and document management reviews, KPIs and continual improvement initiatives.
Quality Control (QC)
- Perform incoming, in‑process, inspections of sucker rod pump components.
- Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and API 11AX requirements.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision QC tools.
- Review material test reports, calibration certificates, and supplier documentation.
- Assist with nonconformance reporting, disposition, and follow‑up.
- Support calibration program oversight and recordkeeping.
- Work closely with production to resolve quality issues and ensure product conformity.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in manufacturing quality management and quality control.
- Strong understanding of inspection tools and measurement techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of audit management, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Preferred
- Experience with API Q1 or API 11AX.
- Prior involvement in API audits and QMS maintenance.
- Familiarity with sucker rod pump components.
- Knowledge of calibration programs and supplier quality documentation.
Soft Skills
- Detail‑oriented and disciplined with documentation.
