Elliott Electric Supply in Wichita is hiring for a dispatch supervisor. Under direction of the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the transportation of material. This is a vital position that requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to analyze transportation data. We currently operate a distribution facility with customer deliveries being sent out multiple times a day in the general Wichita area using company trucks and drivers along with supplying other Elliott Electric Supply stores in South and Western, KS.
Responsibilities:
- Dispatch freight to appropriate drivers and ensure timely delivery
- Coordinate with drivers to optimize routes and schedules
- Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments and update information
- Communicate with customers to provide updates on delivery status
- Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations
- Handle any issues or emergencies that arise during transportation
Skills:
- Proven experience in dispatching and transportation planning
- Familiarity with various phone systems and communication tools
- Strong analytical skills to analyze transportation data and make informed decisions
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED with warehouse or distribution experience preferred. Able to identify product by size, type, style, color or product code. Must be able to read orders/match orders on shipping tickets to items picked. Basic math skills and reasoning skills. Certification of power-truck equipment. Operate inventory control equipment, i.e., bar-coding equipment, handheld devices.
Physical Requirements: This is a safety sensitive position therefore the ability to work in a constant state of awareness and in a safe manner is imperative. Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Able to withstand extreme temperatures in a typical warehouse environment. Position spends a large amount of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing. Position may require climbing of ladders for top-level selection Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
