Description: Ellington Public Schools is seeking a SPED Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a young adult in the transition program. This CNA will work collaboratively with the special education team following each student's health care plan and Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Job Summary:
- Direct Student Care: Provide various medical and personal care services to students, including, but not limited to:
- Medical interventions: Gastrostomy care, measuring vital signs, administering oxygen.
- Assistance in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Feeding, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, range of motion exercises, and assisting with ambulation and transfers
- IEP Implementation: Actively participate in IEP meetings and help implement goals and objectives within the school setting.
- Communication and Documentation: Maintain communication with supervisors, staff, and parents regarding student progress, changes, and equipment needs. Keep accurate records related to student care and services provided.
- Team Collaboration: Work with the special education team, including teachers, therapists, and school administrators, to ensure the needs of students are met and that medical interventions are provided consistently.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and development, keeping up with new medical equipment or technologies.
Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent).
