What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Ellen's Casa Linda?
Our family-owned and operated restaurant is looking for a detail-oriented individual with exceptional time management abilities who is passionate about providing customers with an exceptional dining experience. As our next line cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that every dish is cooked and presented following our appropriate recipes and presentation standards as well as with absolute accuracy for the guest's order. We need an experienced cook who is comfortable with a variety of cooking techniques such as poaching, braising, roasting, charbroiling, sautéing, grilling, frying, and baking. Our ideal applicant is a team player who can successfully communicate with other kitchen staff to keep our restaurant running efficiently. - Adhere to established storage and waste control standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to ensure quality food is served
- Keep all workstations, counters, cooking equipment, and refrigerators clean and sanitary according to health and safety rules
- Set up cooking stations and fill them with all of the essential preparation items for a shift
- Ensure that all interactions with visitors, vendors, and colleagues are conducted in a professional and friendly manner
- Prepare food orders on the line by cooking items to order, grilling, broiling, sauteing and meeting all presentation guidelines and following standard recipes
- Ensure all food orders are accurately and properly plated
- Review each ticket to ensure the correct menu items have been prepared and that the order is complete before delivery to the customer
- Maintain food stations with all of the necessary ingredients for the shift
- Recognize and adhere to food quality requirements for all food products as well as correct storage and waste management
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desired
- Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
- Previous line cook experience is highly desired
- Ability to understand and comply with kitchen sanitation, safety and equipment usage, and food storage
- Candidates must have completed high school or received similar certification such as a GED
- Candidates must be hardworking, detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and maintain strong working stamina for 6 hours
- Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends
