This position is responsible for building, installing, and aligning concrete forms for a variety of construction projects, including sidewalks, curbs, foundations, slabs, storm drainage structures, and other civil infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience reading construction plans, working with hand and power tools, and ensuring forms are properly set to grade and specifications before concrete placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Form Assembly: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble formwork for various concrete elements (slabs, curbs, walls, columns).
- Installation: Set forms, ensuring they are aligned, braced, plumb, and square, using tools like levels, measuring tapes, and string lines.
- Reinforcement: Place and tie rebar, wire mesh, and install hardware like wall ties and expansion joints.
- Pouring & Finishing: Coordinate concrete delivery, pour, and use finishing tools (floats, screeds, trowels) to achieve the desired surface.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and follow project plans, elevations, and layouts.
- Safety & Quality: Adhere to all safety protocols (PPE, fall protection) and maintain high quality standards.
- Carpentry & Construction: Strong carpentry skills, understanding of formwork materials.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy materials (50-100 lbs), stand, bend, and work outdoors in various conditions.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using hand and power tools, as well as measuring and layout tools.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for accuracy in alignment, elevation, and dimensions.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with supervisors, finishers, and laborers.
