Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with USDA Child Nutrition Programs (NSLP, SBP) and state agency regulations is highly preferred.

Analytical Skills: Ability to audit financial documents, cross-reference data, and interpret complex federal regulations.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for navigating relationships between district leadership, parents/guardians, state auditors, and FSMC management.

Attention to Detail: High precision in record-keeping, data verification, and meeting strict regulatory deadlines.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

Administer the application process for all free and reduced-price meals, ensuring adherence to USDA guidelines.

Establish and update program criteria for eligible students.

Formally notify parents and guardians of eligibility statuses.

Execute the annual verification process for Free and Reduced-Price Meal applications as strictly required by USDA regulations.

Ensure absolute compliance with civil rights legislation, guaranteeing no child is discriminated against based on race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability.

Partner with the FSMC to enforce and protect the anonymity of students receiving free or reduced-price meals in accordance with 7 CFR 245.6.

Conduct annual on-site reviews of the lunch counting and claiming system for every school under the districts jurisdiction, ensuring completion prior to February 1 of each school year.

Ensure a school implements an immediate corrective action plan if an on-site review discloses issues with meal counting or claiming procedures.

Conduct a mandatory follow-up on-site review within 45 days of the initial review to verify that the corrective action successfully resolved the identified problem (7 CFR 210.8(a)(1)).

Ensure that each schools claim is based on the counting system authorized by the State agency and that the system yields the actual number of reimbursable free, reduced-price, and paid lunches served daily.

Retain exclusive signature authority on the State agency-SFA agreement, the free and reduced-price policy statement, and all monthly reimbursement claims.

Review, verify, and approve meal counts and financial claims submitted by the FSMC prior to submitting them to the State agency for reimbursement.

Monitor the FSMCs daily operations to ensure adherence to contract terms, nutritional standards, portion sizes, and cost-control measures.
