Position: Computer Technician I
Classification: Unlicensed Staff
Terms of Employment: Full-Time – 209 Days
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
This is an unlicensed position assigned to the Classified Salary Schedule.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, interfaces computers with peripheral devices, and provide computer systems support for users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The list of Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
- Install and configure software, PC’s and peripherals.
- Diagnose and repair a variety of computer equipment.
- Maintain log, records, files and controls of maintenance, repairs performed, equipment and supplies.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of software, and hardware system enhancements.
- Maintain a positive and friendly attitude while working with others.
- Assume all other duties and tasks as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Training, and Experience:
- High school graduation or other equivalent, (i.e., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).
- Valid Nevada C Driver License
- Work is performed in a classroom setting. Must be able to work in a non- intrusive manner.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, sit, crawl, climb. Use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach to operate objects and controls.
EXAMPLES OF ASSIGNED WORK AREAS:
- Elko County School District - schools (i.e., classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, corridors,schools theaters, cafeterias, etc.), offices, grounds, constructions sites, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Strength:
- Medium/Heavy - exert force to 50-100 lbs., occasionally; 25-50 lbs., frequently; or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking pushing, pulling, carrying, and stooping, reaching, kneeling, handling, repetitive fine motor activities.
- Talking.
- Hearing.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, crouching, and crawling.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
Vision:
- Occasional near and far acuity, depth perception, and color vision.
Environmental Conditions:
- Climate-controlled office setting and exposure to weather with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate to extreme cold/heat.
- Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods.
Hazards:
- Furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals (as related to specific assignment), and power/hand-operated equipment and machinery (as related to specific assignment).
EXAMPLES OF EQUIPMENT/SUPPLIES USED TO PERFORM TASKS:
Computers, printers, fax machines, calculators, typewriters, copy machines, etc.
