DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary-Court Services
HIRING RATE: Indiana Judicial Conference of Indiana Salary Schedule for Probation Officers' plus county supplement

Job Summary
Serves as an employee of the Elkhart County Judiciary and provides supervision to persons placed on probation using evidence-based practices. Assists in determining restitution, collecting, interpreting, and evaluating criminal history. Conducts referrals to the appropriate agencies, ensures Court orders are implemented, and files probation violations, progress reports, discharge reports, and other reports as directed. Responsible for accurate records and accounting of payments and preparation of Court reports and case plans.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Work or Criminal Justice required
- Minimum of 1 year experience in probation or social services delivery agency/program preferred
- Must obtain Probation Officer certification from the Indiana Judicial Center within 6 mo. of hire
- Must be self-motivated and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, must demonstrate strong communication skills, strong time-management skills and possess the ability to work well with others
- Must possess a valid driver's license; must be 21 years of age and an American Citizen
- Background check & drug screen required
