LEGAL ASSISTANT
DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary – Superior Court 4
HIRING RANGE: $20.92-$23.24/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP
HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday 8 - 5 p.m.; Tuesday - Friday 8 - 4 p.m.
LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing and processing various motions, orders, and court related documents; scheduling all cases, and legal proceedings; performing various clerical/administrative duties; assuming the functions of other employees as necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED; Associate degree or professional certificate in paralegal or related field preferred
- Working knowledge of standard office/courtroom procedures and legal terminology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and files
- Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy
- Excellent organizational, communication skills and a sound knowledge of office procedures and practices
- Pre-employment background check and drug screen
