Position Summary:
We are seeking a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment for children, fostering their growth and development. This role involves assisting in the daily operations of the classroom, building positive relationships with children, families, and staff, and promoting a love of learning through creative and age-appropriate activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing educational activities aligned with the curriculum.
- Help set up and maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Supervise children during playtime, mealtime, rest periods, and other daily routines.
- Child Development:
- Support children’s emotional, social, and physical development through attentive care and guidance.
- Encourage positive behavior and reinforce classroom rules using developmentally appropriate strategies.
- Observe and document children’s progress and share insights with the teaching team.
- Health and Safety:
- Monitor children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards, including sanitizing toys and equipment.
- Follow all policies and procedures regarding child safety and emergency protocols.
- Parent Communication:
- Build strong relationships with families by providing updates on their child's activities and progress.
- Address parent concerns or questions professionally and refer them to the Lead Teacher or Center Director as needed.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the teaching team to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Coursework in early childhood education or related field or current CDA (preferred).
- Previous experience working with young children in a child care or educational setting (preferred).
- Ability to pass a background check,drug test and meet state licensing requirements.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
