Position Summary

The Clinical Director serves as the senior clinical leader of Elk Ridge Recovery and is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based treatment services, and maintaining compliance with Montana licensing requirements and industry best practices.

The Clinical Director provides supervision and mentorship to therapists and counselors, participates in treatment planning and quality assurance activities, and works closely with executive leadership to ensure exceptional client care across all levels of treatment.

This position combines leadership, program development, staff supervision, and direct clinical involvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Oversight

• Provide leadership and direction for all clinical programming and services
• Ensure treatment services align with ASAM criteria, evidence-based practices, and state regulatory requirements
• Maintain oversight of clinical documentation, treatment planning, discharge planning, and utilization review processes
• Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives

Staff Supervision & Development

• Provide clinical supervision, coaching, and mentorship to therapists, counselors, and other clinical staff
• Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management of clinical personnel
• Facilitate ongoing clinical training and professional development
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence

Direct Clinical Involvement

• Conduct clinical assessments and evaluations as needed
• Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews
• Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy when clinically appropriate
• Assist with complex clinical cases and crisis intervention

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with Montana Administrative Rules, accreditation standards, HIPAA requirements, and ethical guidelines
• Participate in audits, chart reviews, and quality assurance activities
• Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and protocols
• Support continuous performance improvement initiatives

Strategic Leadership

• Serve as a member of the organization's leadership team
• Collaborate with operations, medical, and executive leadership to support program growth and excellence
• Assist with strategic planning, program development, and service expansion initiatives

QualificationsRequired

• Active and unrestricted Montana licensure as one of the following:
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
• Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)
• Clinical Psychologist (PhD or PsyD)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or co-occurring disorders
• Minimum 2 years of clinical leadership, supervisory, or management experience
• Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria, DSM-5 diagnoses, treatment planning, and evidence-based treatment modalities
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred

• Experience in residential substance use disorder treatment
• Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Experience with accreditation standards (CARF and/or Joint Commission)
• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD)
