Position Summary
Elk Electrical Systems is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead, manage, and continuously improve our company-wide safety program. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations, delivering field-level safety leadership, and fostering a proactive safety culture across all projects.
The Safety Manager will work closely with project managers, supervisors, and field personnel to reduce risk, prevent incidents, and maintain Elk’s reputation as a safety-focused contractor in industrial and mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
- Review, refine, and maintain company safety manuals, policies, and procedures
- Develop and implement new safety initiatives as the company grows
- Maintain documentation required for compliance, audits, and client prequalification platforms (e.g., ISNetworld)
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable MSHA and OSHA regulations
- Manage required reporting, recordkeeping, and documentation
- Serve as company liaison during inspections or regulatory interactions
Field Safety Leadership
- Conduct regular jobsite safety audits and inspections
- Identify hazards and work with field leadership to implement corrective actions
- Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and incident investigations
Safety Training
- Plan and deliver safety training programs for electricians, engineers, and technicians
- Conduct or coordinate MSHA 24-Hour New Miner and MSHA 8-Hour Refresher training
- Track employee certifications, training expirations, and required renewals
Fleet & Equipment Safety
- Manage company vehicle safety program, including driver qualifications and incident tracking
- Oversee tool and equipment safety inspections, documentation, and tracking
- Help implement systems to manage safety compliance for field assets
Incident Management
- Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and property damage events
- Identify root causes and implement preventive measures
- Track safety metrics and provide regular reporting to leadership
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong working knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations
- Experience managing safety programs in construction, industrial, or mining environments
- Ability to conduct jobsite safety audits and lead field safety conversations
- Experience delivering safety training to field personnel
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Willingness to travel to jobsites regularly
Preferred:
- MSHA Instructor certification (or ability to obtain)
- OSHA 500/502 or similar trainer credentials
- CHST, OHST, CSP, or similar safety certification
- Experience with contractor prequalification systems (ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.)
- Experience with fleet safety or DOT compliance programs

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
