ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (approx. time spent annually)
Perform various roles at the sort line and resaw, including but not limited to (50%)
- Pulling staples and applying paper-wrap on units of lumber
- Lumber and sidecuts off-loading
- Accurately place stickers (spacers) on appropriate units
- Operate the end-stacker
- Assist with Inventory
Final steps of lumber prep may include:
- Barcode units of lumber by using the fast tagger staple gun (15%)
- Properly band and package units per order and inventory specifications (20%)
Perform clean-up duties throughout the facility to eliminate safety and fire hazards as needed. (15%)
Production - General Labor
The purpose of this role is to assist in the optimal operation of production by performing a variety of roles, including but not limited to packaging, offloading lumber on the sort line and resaw, and barcoding. This position directly impacts the efficiency of production at Deep Creek Lumber.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manually maneuver lumber hangups as needed
- Keep work area clear
- Communicate with team members as needed
- Cross train and support other positions along the sort chain as needed
- Willingness to learn and operate in various positions based on supervisor discretion and business needs - Sort Line, Resaw, Barcoding, Packaging, and Inventory.
- Work under cover and sometimes exposed to elements
- Maintain a safe environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Ability to listen, read, and accurately follow instructions in English
- General working knowledge of processes within a warehouse and manufacturing environment
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently
- Ability to consistently lift 20 - 30 pounds on an as-needed basis
PREFERRED
- Previous lumber knowledge helpful
- Forklift operation experience a plus
