The College Store at Elizabethtown College is seeking an Assistant Manager.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Manager with day-to-day functions of the store. This person will also manage all aspects of the textbook and course materials program for the College. The appropriate candidate will possess excellent communication, critical thinking, organization and time management skills.

Job Duties
- Research, negotiate and create relationships with publishers to ensure the procurement of high-quality merchandise to include, but not limited to, textbooks and related course materials, and ensure expedient delivery and dependable service
- Work closely with faculty on timely textbook adoptions to assure compliance with federal HEOA laws
- In conjunction with Registration and Records, utilize sales history reports, current inventory, and course enrollment reports to determine the buy quantity for course materials. This requires knowledge of the materials as well as an understanding of degree requirements/course materials.
- Prepare purchase orders for vendors and place orders through the Textbook Assistant and Inclusive Access Platforms. This includes all course related materials for approximately 650 courses.
- Identify and set competitive pricing for all course materials. Knowledge of the availability of course materials in the marketplace is necessary.
- Reconcile invoices against received inventory and purchase orders for payment by the Business Office.
- Shelf textbooks and display purchasing options in the textbook area of the store.
- Communicate with students the process for managing all aspects of Inclusive Access, including opt-out instructions for those who do not wish to participate in the program.
- In conjunction with the Business Office, process appropriate course material costs as needed.
- Understand point of sale system including use of registers, inventory management systems and updates to product PLUs.
- Manage and train professional and student staff who assist with the textbook distribution process and provide them the skills needed to assist students with book purchasing.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a user-friendly course material ordering website as well as processing course material orders submitted through the online store
- Manage EtownBooks Amazon Marketplace account. List, confirm and ship all orders of textbooks through the Amazon platform.
- Work closely with employees and departments across campus on special orders for lectures.
- Manage receiving and returns processing of purchased course materials through MBS and the POS; maintain the necessary information in MBS for sales and inventory purposes.
- Support Manager in planning special sales and promotions at the store throughout the year.
- Schedule and coordinate setups for all outside vendors (poster sales, yard sales, etc.).
- Maintain proper pricing of course materials; clean and stock textbook room; take inventory of course materials for reorder.
- Hire and train student Textbook Assistants. Manage their responsibilities in the textbook fulfillment process, processing of backorders and providing them with the knowledge they need to assist in the maintenance of the textbook room.
- Coordinate the acquisition/set up and billing of Inclusive Access Course Materials. This requires value comparisons between print and digital delivery.
- Educate current and new faculty on the course materials adoption process.
- Communicate effectively to students to understand the delivery and billing process of digital items.
- Mange all aspects of the Vital Source Suite of Products including Connect, Compare, Collect, Launch and our White Label Store
- Act as a certified ‘Buyer’ for MBS.
- Have a proven ability to foster excellent constituent relationships (i.e. students, faculty, customers, vendors, etc.)
- Responsible for the School for Graduate and Professional Studies course materials, which requires management of nine sub terms in addition to the traditional four terms
- Participate in miscellaneous clerical and manual activities, such as operating point-of-sale terminals and restocking and organizing merchandise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalence is required; plus one year of textbook experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills and understanding of system interaction are essential.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MBS- Missouri Book Services software preferred
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to lift up to 60 pounds and carry a distance of 10 feet

- Regularly required to stand/sit for long periods of time
