Duties
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and nail clipping tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs safely using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s health and behavior, communicating any concerns or veterinary needs to pet owners or veterinary staff
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in excellent condition
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining grooming processes, offering advice on pet care, and addressing client questions or requests
- Assist with pet handling during drop-off and pick-up, demonstrating gentle animal handling skills to reduce stress
- Support other team members with pet sitting or kennel duties as needed, including light cleaning and animal care tasks
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of different coat types and breed-specific styles
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal handling to ensure safe grooming sessions
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is highly desirable for understanding animal health considerations
- Familiarity with animal restraint methods, pet care routines, and kennel operations
- Ability to lift heavy objects such as grooming equipment or large dogs safely and comfortably
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners
- Prior experience in animal handling across various species such as dogs, cats, or horses is a plus
