The Finance Director serves as the senior financial leader under the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and is responsible for the organization's day-to-day financial operations. This position oversees payroll, monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting support, financial analysis, financial compliance, and the integrity of ERC's financial records. The Finance Director prepares timely financial reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors and works closely with the CAO to support the organization's financial management and operational goals.


Supervisory Responsibility

No direct supervisory responsibilities. The Finance Director serves as the senior finance position under the Chief Administrative Officer and provides leadership for the organization's financial operations.


Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Process and oversee payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Prepare financial reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations regarding organizational performance.
  • Assist with the development, monitoring, and forecasting of the annual operating budget.
  • Coordinate the monthly and year-end financial close process.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
  • Complete monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and coordinate annual financial audits.
  • Prepare required financial reports for regulatory agencies and funding sources.
  • Maintain proficiency in GAAP, GASB, and FASB standards and ensure compliance with applicable accounting regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required financial reports and documentation related to Representative Payee accounts.
  • Reconcile Representative Payee bank accounts.
  • Maintain strong internal financial controls and recommend process improvements.
  • Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer.


Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Include:

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, program directors, staff, auditors, funding agencies, and the Board of Directors.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements, audits, budgets, and management reports.
  • Ability to prepare detailed financial reports and correspondence.
  • Proficiency with accounting software programs and integrated financial systems.
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative, accountability, and work ethic.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong bookkeeping and financial management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, ADP, NetSuite, and financial systems.
  • Experience preparing payroll, monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and financial reports.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two or more years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting.
  • Experience with state licensure requirements and annual financial audits.
  • Knowledge of programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Salary Range: $55,000-$70,000.
