SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for preparing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) claims for submission and for managing the 60 days AR for all types of unpaid Medicaid/KanCare claims by reviewing and submitting corrected claims for payment and other activities relating to ELC receiving Medicaid/KanCare revenues in a timely manner. This position reports directly to the Operations Director.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilizing a working knowledge of the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) payer sources including authorization processes, claims submission, claim correction and payment requirements; will review SUD program claims weekly for accuracy prior to initial submission assuring correct payer, CPT code, units, authorization, etc. and will work with staff to resolve problem claims
• Manages all Medicaid/KanCare aged accounts for delayed payment (60 days) by identifying/researching status of outstanding claims then submitting corrected claims, requesting recoupments, reconsiderations and appeals as appropriate and in the process utilizing available resources including coordinating with the MCOs and ELC providers through internet based systems, portals, email, chat, call centers, spreadsheets and ELC billing system to get claims paid
• Position provides support to co-workers in problem-solving billing related issues
• Provides professional customer service to all clients, their payers and other business associates
• Attends monthly and quarterly statewide biller meetings as scheduled
• Attends relevant KanCare/Medicaid trainings
• Provides backup for weekly claim submissions for all payer types
• Provides backup for posting claims payments for all payer types
• Communicates openly and timely with staff and management regarding trend concerns, eligibility concerns and other issues as they arise
• Completes all required trainings as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
• Complies with ELC policies and procedures

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school degree or equivalent, some college preferred
• Proficient in use of computer and Microsoft office
• One to two years of experience in medical billing or accounting preferred
• Previous customer service experience preferred
• Ability to pass all required background checks
