Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs and eligibility for services
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute mental health or behavioral emergencies
- Coordinate care through case management, ensuring seamless access to community resources, medical services, and support networks
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
- Engage in clinical research activities, data collection, and analysis to improve service delivery and treatment outcomes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare providers, educators, and community organizations to optimize client support plans
Skills
- Proven experience in psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, child & family counseling, and addiction counseling
- Strong background working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD care, geriatrics, and Alzheimer’s care
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, ICD coding for accurate diagnosis documentation
- Proficiency in using EMR systems for medical records management and data collection
- Knowledge of crisis management techniques and working effectively under pressure in hospital or community settings
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including diagnostic evaluation and behavioral health screening
- Experience with special education programs or working with people with disabilities in diverse environments
- Excellent communication skills for conducting intake interviews, group therapy sessions, and clinical counseling
- Understanding of psychopharmacology principles relevant to behavioral health treatment plans
