Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, shocks & struts, and HVAC systems on mobile heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and electrical testing methods.
- Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, soldering, and assembly to repair or modify equipment components.
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during service procedures.
- Use power tools and hand tools for disassembly, repair, and reassembly of equipment parts while adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document repairs accurately for each job.
- Assist with tire service, alignment adjustments, air brake systems maintenance, and other specialized repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic or service technician with a focus on heavy equipment or automotive repair; dealership experience is highly valued.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Skilled in using schematics for troubleshooting complex issues across various machinery types such as excavators, cranes, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely including excavators, forklifts, tractor-trailers and perform heavy lifting when required.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and other fabrication tools necessary for repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor involving heavy lifting and sustained physical activity in outdoor environments.
- Valid certifications in automotive diagnostics or related fields are preferred; ongoing training in HVAC or electrical systems is a plus.
