What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA/L position at Elite Therapy?
Occupational therapy assistants provide treatment to children and adults of all ages with disabilitieis, injuries, and illnesses under the supervision of Occupational therapists (OT). Initially COTAs work together with OTs to develop a treatment regimen for the patient. They provide direct, hands-on assistance by implementing treatment plans as developed by the OT.
Job duties include:
- Assist patients in carrying out daily activities
- Help patients with poor social skills and learning disabilities improve everyday function
- Teach patients how to use special equipment to improve their quality of life
- Work in collaboration with OTs to establish and carry out a rehabilitation plan
- Supervise patients' activities to ensure they are done properly
- Work with disabled children and assist them in play activities that enhance age-appropriate skills
- Report patient progress to the Occupational Therapists
- Provide services on an outpatient basis in the following settings: pediatric and rehab clinics, assisted living facilities, patient homes, and school-based settings.
