POSITION SUMMARY
The Flagger is responsible for maintaining safe and effective traffic control in active work zones. This includes assisting the Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) with setting up and moving traffic control devices, stopping and releasing vehicles, and ensuring the safety of the crew and traveling public. The role requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, long periods of standing, and the ability to act quickly and remain alert while working near live traffic. All traffic control personnel must follow the direction of the TCS and comply with company safety policies.

Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Assist the TCS with setup, relocation, and removal of traffic control devices (cones, signs, barrels, etc.)
- Stop, slow, and release traffic using a stop/slow paddle (approx. 2 lbs.)
- Load and unload traffic control devices weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods at designated flagger stations
- Move quickly in emergency situations
- Follow the instructions of the Traffic Control Supervisor without delay
- Think and respond quickly to changes in traffic patterns and job site conditions
- Take breaks outside the Temporary Traffic Control Zone (TTCZ)
- Communicate clearly with the public, crew, and supervisors

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience:
- Previous experience as a flagger or in construction traffic control preferred
- Experience working outdoors or in labor-intensive roles a plus
Certificates & Licenses:
- Flagger Certification (required or ability to obtain before employment)
- Valid state-issued identification
- OSHA 10-Hour and CPR/First Aid certifications preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
Other Requirements:
- Must pass drug screening and background check
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions
