Schedule: Monday through Friday. From 7:00am to 5:00pm, hours & days can vary based upon Owner/GC requirements and workload.

Elite Surface Infrastructure (ESI), based in Englewood, CO, is a leading self-performing civil contractor serving Colorado since 1998. ESI specializes in Underground Utilities, Milling, Asphalt, Paving, Grading, Concrete, and Earthwork for commercial, municipal, and federal projects.
Position Summary
The Project Superintendent is responsible for managing all field operations and production activities on heavy civil construction projects valued from $100K to $20M . This role oversees crew supervision, daily production, quality control, safety compliance, and equipment coordination to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification. The Project Superintendent leads field personnel across ESI's self-performing disciplines: asphalt paving, concrete operations, earthwork & grading, utilities installation, and traffic control operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all field operations and daily production activities on assigned projects
- Supervise and coordinate foremen, crew leaders, and field personnel
- Ensure projects are built according to plans, specifications, and quality standards
- Monitor daily production rates and maintain project schedules
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and labor resources for optimal productivity
- Enforce safety policies and maintain a safe work environment for all field personnel
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety meetings with crews
- Coordinate with Project Manager on project status, issues, and schedule updates
- Review plans and specifications to identify field constructability issues
- Manage subcontractor activities and ensure compliance with project requirements
- Track daily quantities, production, and labor hours using field reporting systems
- Identify and communicate potential change orders and scope changes
- Resolve field issues and make on-site decisions to maintain progress
- Ensure proper installation and testing of utilities and infrastructure
- Maintain positive relationships with owners, inspectors, and stakeholders
- Mentor and develop foremen and crew leaders for career advancement
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Construction Management or related degree preferred
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in heavy civil construction field operations
- Proven experience supervising crews and managing field production
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, and safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grading plans
- Experience with GPS machine control and grade checking preferred
- Proficiency with field reporting software (HCSS HeavyJob or similar)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of contract administration and change order management
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to wear PPE and work in varying indoor/outdoor environments
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and ability to work under pressure
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and material handling
- Lift 10–50 lbs. frequently; up to 100 lbs. occasionally
- Occasional climbing and overhead reaching
- Continuous physical activity throughout workday
- PPE required at all times on job sites
