Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring the comfort and safety of those we serve. The Nursing Assistant will work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to assist in the daily activities of patients, promoting their well-being and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Provide support in mobility and transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Assist with medical procedures under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding patient needs and progress.
- Support patients with memory care, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and other specialized needs as required.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous education to enhance caregiving skills.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred (hospital experience, long-term care experience, assisted living).
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) techniques is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health challenges is a plus.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and catheter care is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service and empathy towards patients’ needs.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
