Responsibilities
- Safely handle and restrain dogs of all sizes using proper animal handling techniques to ensure safety for pets, staff, and visitors
- Monitor dogs’ behavior throughout their stay or playtime, intervening when necessary to prevent conflicts or injuries
- Assist with dog training activities, reinforcing commands and encouraging good behavior in a positive manner
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and grooming stations by cleaning cages, bedding, and equipment regularly
- Provide pet grooming services such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep animals comfortable and healthy
- Observe pet health and behavior closely; report any signs of illness or distress to veterinary staff or management promptly
- Support pet sitting duties by providing attentive care during owner drop-offs or pick-ups while delivering excellent customer service to pet owners
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary clinic, pet grooming salon, or pet sitting environment is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary experience is a strong plus
- Demonstrated ability in animal handling and restraint methods to ensure safety at all times
- Familiarity with pet grooming tools and procedures; pet grooming certification is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), stand for extended periods, and perform active duties throughout the day
- Compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to animal care and well-being
