CNC Mill Machine Setup Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Mill Machine Setup Technician with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience working with Fadal, Hurco, and Okuma 3 and 4-axis mills. The primary responsibility of this role is to collaborate with the NC programming department to determine the most efficient machining methods to produce high-quality parts. The technician will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of 13 CNC mills, ensuring optimal performance, precision, and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include providing accurate machine times for quoting purposes and operating machines to run parts as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the NC programming department to develop and implement efficient machining methods for producing desired parts.
- Set up and configure 13 CNC mills (Fadal, Hurco, and Okuma 3 and 4-axis) for production runs, ensuring proper tooling, fixturing, and programming.
- Write, edit, and optimize NC programs to achieve high-quality output and meet production requirements.
- Determine appropriate speeds, feeds, and cutting technologies to maximize efficiency and part quality.
- Design, select, and implement fixtures to ensure secure and precise part machining.
- Provide accurate machine time estimates for quoting purposes to support the sales and production planning teams.
- Operate CNC mills to run parts as needed, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC mills to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working with Fadal, Hurco, and Okuma 3 and 4-axis CNC mills.
- Extensive knowledge of CNC setup methods, NC programming, speeds and feeds, cutting technologies, and fixturing.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with the NC programming department and other team members.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in CNC mill setup and operation, specifically with Fadal, Hurco, and Okuma machines.
Work Environment:
- Full-time position in a manufacturing facility.
- Requires standing for extended periods, lifting moderate loads, and working with machinery in a production environment.
- Adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
