Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Implement various physical therapy treatments including manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and therapeutic exercises to promote healing and mobility.
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
- Document clinical assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately in electronic health records (EHR) following clinical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate clearly with patients and caregivers to explain treatment procedures, progress expectations, and home exercise programs.
- Maintain compliance with medical terminology standards and ensure all medical documentation aligns with regulatory requirements.
Experience
- Prior inpatient or outpatient experience in physical therapy or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and patients in acute care or home health settings.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to physiotherapy practice.
- Familiarity with clinical assessment documentation, discharge planning processes, and medical documentation standards.
- Hands-on experience operating physical therapy equipment and managing electronic health records (EHR).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds while maintaining compassionate care.
- Previous exposure to outpatient clinics or skilled nursing environments will be considered an asset.
