Landscape Superintendent - Candidate Requirements
Experience & Background
- 5 years of experience in landscape construction, maintenance, or site management
- Proven track record supervising field crews and subcontractors
- Strong understanding of horticulture, irrigation systems, grading, and landscape installation practices
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications
- Prior work in commercial, residential, or municipal landscape projects
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of plant identification, soil types, and proper planting techniques
- Familiarity with irrigation troubleshooting, controlled programming, and water-management best practices
- Ability to operate and oversee use of landscape equipment (skid steers, trenchers, mowers, etc.)
- Competence with project management tools, daily reporting apps, and basic computer skills
- Understanding of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and job-site compliance
Leadership & Management
- Ability to lead, train, and motivate crews of 5-20 workers
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers, clients, and vendors
- Skilled in scheduling labor, equipment, and materials to meet project deadlines
- Ability to resolve on-site issues quickly and professionally
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality workmanship and site cleanliness
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds and performing physical tasks as needed
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to travel between job sites
- Ability to work early mornings, occasional weekends, and extended hours during peak seasons
- Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CLT, QAL/QAC, OSHA 10/30, or irrigation technician credentials
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with landscape construction budgets and cost tracking
