Job Summary:
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders to produce precision metal parts. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprints, and measurement tools to ensure high-quality production. This is a shop machinist position and would be working in our Gillette, WY shop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, mills, and grinders
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for materials
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet specifications
- Deburr, polish, or finish parts as required
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
