About the role:
The Safety Specialist will perform onsite construction safety related duties on datacenter projects in Ridgeville, SC.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an owner’s representative for safety
- Duties as required by 1926 OSHA Standards for Construction
- Ensure compliance for the safety of site workers and general public
- Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings
- Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety assessments and safety audits
- Investigate incidents and complete associated paperwork
- Conduct risk assessments
- Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management or customer
- Maintain all safety related documentation
Education/Qualifications/Skills:
- Fluent in English, written and verbal
- OSHA 510
- BCSP Board Certified preferred
- Collegiate Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or equivalent preferred
- Ability to teach and train others on safety programs (required)
- Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Technological competency
- 10 plus years of construction safety experience
- 2-4 years of high voltage experience
- NFPA 70E
- Competency in ISO 45001
- Certification (CHST/CSP) is strongly preferred
What we offer:
The current project will be for 6 plus months with potential to extend a longer duration. The schedule will vary, however, the expectation for the position is a minimum of 40 hours weekly as required by client. This is a 1099 contract role; depending on experience, and ranges from $45-50 per hour. You must reside in the area and able to commute successfully for day-to-day operation. The schedule is M-F; however, flexibility is a must.
