HR Operations Manager

(Preferred Hybrid Remote in Indiana)

About the Role 

This is not a traditional HR Manager position.

We're looking for an operational leader who can oversee the entire employee journey—from the moment a position is approved through a successful first day and beyond.

Recruiting is one part of the role.

Building and operating an efficient onboarding organization is the other.

You'll lead recruiters, oversee a complex multi-stage onboarding process, coordinate across multiple departments, remove operational roadblocks, and continuously improve how work gets done.

This is a highly visible leadership role where success is measured by your ability to create order in a fast-moving environment, anticipate problems before they occur, and ensure every new hire has everything they need to be successful.

This role requires someone who naturally takes ownership, thinks several steps ahead, and is comfortable making decisions without waiting for detailed instructions.

What You'll Own

Talent Acquisition

• Lead high-volume recruiting for caregivers, clinicians, and administrative employees.
• Manage recruiting performance, workloads, and priorities.
• Develop sourcing strategies and talent pipelines.
• Monitor recruiting metrics and staffing goals.
• Coach and develop recruiters while maintaining accountability for results.

Onboarding Operations

You'll own the operational success of every new hire from accepted offer through active employment.

This includes oversight of:

• Pre-employment requirements
• Background checks
• Credentialing
• Clinical training coordination
• Licensing
• Compliance documentation
• I-9 completion
• Final onboarding
• Orientation readiness
• Employee activation

The onboarding process spans multiple departments, systems, and several weeks.

Your responsibility is to ensure candidates continue moving forward, identify where processes stall, remove barriers quickly, and verify that every new employee is fully prepared for a successful first day.

Operational Leadership

This role is about much more than completing HR tasks.

You'll be expected to:

• Coordinate across Recruiting, Clinical, HR, Payroll, Scheduling, IT, Finance, and Operations.
• Anticipate operational needs before they become problems.
• Monitor multiple systems to identify stalled candidates, missing documentation, communication gaps, or workflow breakdowns.
• Verify completion of critical tasks rather than assuming they were completed.
• Own shared inboxes and ensure timely, proactive communication.
• Balance daily execution with continuous process improvement.
• Identify recurring issues, determine root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Build processes that improve efficiency, communication, and the employee experience.
• Lead, coach, and hold your team accountable while creating a culture of ownership.

The Reality of This Position

This is a demanding operational leadership role.

You'll have support from leadership, but this is not a role where someone provides step-by-step instructions or daily direction.

We are looking for someone who sees what needs to be done, asks the right questions, makes sound decisions, and drives work forward with confidence.

You'll be expected to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and keep dozens of moving pieces organized while leading a team through constant change.

Some days you'll be solving an onboarding issue, coaching a recruiter, coordinating with IT, reviewing metrics, improving a workflow, and helping leadership solve an operational challenge—all before lunch.
