Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at the front desk.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and documentation review for compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with insurance verification, intake procedures, and collection of co-pays or outstanding balances.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Collaborate with dental professionals to facilitate smooth clinic operations and care plans.
- Perform clerical duties such as faxing, scanning documents, and organizing medical records efficiently.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or Meditech is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance billing processes including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Experience handling insurance verification, claims processing, and medical billing procedures.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management systems.
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
