Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician/Optician to join our healthcare team. This role involves supporting optometry services through precise laboratory work, patient care, and optical fittings. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and optical systems, with experience in laboratory procedures and medical records management. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient health and vision care in a dynamic clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Quality control and cutting of lenses for glasses
  • Fit and dispense corrective lenses, including glasses and contact lenses, based on prescriptions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of billing codes, and patient interactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage retail sales of optical products, utilizing retail math skills to ensure proper inventory control and sales transactions.
  • Educate patients about glasses options, treatment plans, and proper lens care while providing excellent customer service.
  • Assist with routine eye care billing processes related to optometry services using appropriate coding systems.
  • Ensure clinic cleanliness and organization of the lab

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in ophthalmology or laboratory settings is preferred, but we are willing to train on the job.
  • Experience with optical systems, retail sales, or retail management is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and data security.
  • Ability to perform detailed tasks such as record keeping, and optical fittings accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
