What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook-Assisted Living position at Elite Care?

Job Overview:
The cook's primary responsibility is to plan and prepare meals from scratch that are memorable, enjoyable, nutritious, and community-building experiences. As a cook with us, you will support residents and accommodate their individual tastes and service plans by engaging them in the meal planning and preparation process. You play an important role in establishing the kitchen as the heart of every home by creating a welcoming and supportive kitchen environment.
Compensation Range: $20 to $23 per hour (based on experience level)
Shift: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 6:30am-2:30pm
Location: 12353 SW Grant Ave, Tigard, OR 97223
Job Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Preparation and oversight of household meals
- Prepare healthy, nutritious meals, from scratch whenever possible
- Maintain unit portions and report when a resident eats less than usual
- Utilize fruits and vegetables grown in the Elite Care gardens whenever possible
- Understand and follow each resident’s service plan as it relates to nutrition and hydration
- Support residents’ autonomy by allowing residents to do as much for themselves as possible

Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years or older.
- Experience cooking on a large scale
- 6 months experience cooking in long-term care preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to pass a food service sanitation course
- Obtain a food handlers card
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes
- Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances
- Experience in food service or restaurant experience required
- Comfortable standing, stopping, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently
- Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices
