JJ Vocational Director

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced educator to deliver a curriculum focused on woodworking education and project-based activities. The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in a related field, at least two years of experience in delivering vocational curricula, and strong organizational and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver a curriculum focused on woodworking education and project-based activities.
• Coordinate projects and planning lessons to ensure maximization of learning and experiences.
• Tailor sessions according to strengths and needs of the population.
• Attend required meetings.
• Maintain safety within the classroom and vocational shop.
• Establish and maintain rapport and engage the youth in the learning process.
• Educate students on safe and proper use of tools.
• Develop and implement teaching approaches tailored to individual student differences.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the vocational classroom program.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth, families, community agencies, and vendors.

Requirements:

• BA/BS in a related field preferred with at least two years of related experience.
• Knowledge of population and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Computer literacy and skill in the use of software applications.
• Certifications in CPR, First Aid, CPI, Suicide Prevention, etc.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficient in English and able to convey effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with periods of high stress.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Able to safely operate a motor vehicle as needed.
• Able to physically carry out Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques.
