Payroll Specialist – Weekly Payroll Operations

The Role at a Glance:

Join Elior North America and be part of a payroll team that directly supports over 15,000 employees across the country. As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll help ensure accurate and timely weekly payroll processing for both exempt and non-exempt employees, covering union and non-union populations.

In this role, you’ll work within our enterprise SAP platform to process payroll in-house—no third-party vendor involved—giving you exposure to the full payroll cycle, compliance requirements, and problem-solving across multiple states and employment structures.

You’ll collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction.

What you’ll be doing:Payroll Processing & Administration

· Process weekly payroll for exempt, non-exempt, union, and non-union.

· Maintain payroll data integrity, including new hires, terminations, transfers, and pay changes.

· Calculate and enter deductions, garnishments, and adjustments accurately.

· Prepare and issue paychecks in-house, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Compliance & Reporting

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

· Audit payroll transactions to maintain accuracy and compliance.

· Generate standard and ad hoc payroll reports for Finance, HR, and leadership.

System & Process Management

· Utilize SAP ERP for all payroll-related functions.

· Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies in partnership with HR and Operations.

· Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Employee Support

· Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related questions from managers.

· Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality.

What We’re Looking For:Required Qualifications

· 3+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume environment.

· Strong knowledge of payroll principles, wage and hour laws, and multi-state payroll.

· Experience with large ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred).

· High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience processing union payroll.

· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).

· Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or large-scale operations.

Work Location:

This position is based on site at our corporate office in Houston, TX, four days a week, with the option to work remotely one day per week. The office address is 4920 Westway Park Blvd, Houston, TX 77041.

Compensation:

Compensation for this role ranges from $25 to $28 per hour, commensurate with experience.
